Custom nameplates

Custom nameplates are text- and logo-based identification panels manufactured to your specification: door signs for offices and consulting rooms, machine identification plates for factory equipment, name badges for staff, corporate wayfinding, memorial and dedication plaques. Kyiv Stend produces them in PVC, cast acrylic, Alucobond composite and polystyrene, with UV-cured direct print or laser engraving, and ships to 26 EU member states from Kyiv.

Difference between nameplate and information sign

Both categories overlap - an office door plate can be described as either. As a working rule we use "nameplate" when the panel identifies a person, room, machine or object by name / number, and "information sign" when it communicates a general rule (evacuation, prohibition, wayfinding). Multi-language door signs with Braille belong to the dedicated Braille Tactile Signs category. Prohibition and ISO 7010 pictogram panels - see Prohibition and Information Signs. General wayfinding and safety signs - see Information Signs.

Machinery directive nameplates

If your nameplate is a CE marking / rating plate for equipment placed on the EU market, it must comply with Annex I, section 1.7.3 of Directive 2006/42/EC (Machinery Directive). Mandatory content: name and full address of manufacturer, CE marking, designation of machinery, designation of series or type, serial number, year of construction. If applicable: nominal power, mass, hazardous atmosphere zone rating. Optional but recommended: net weight, dimensions, IP rating, electrical characteristics.

We can produce the plate with printed CE mark (correct proportions per Regulation (EC) No 765/2008), engraved serial number sequence, and durable substrate (Alucobond 3 mm) that survives industrial cleaning agents and IP65 washdown. We do not certify your machinery - that is your responsibility as manufacturer - we only produce the plate to your specification.

Machinery marking - ISO 4871, IEC 61439, IEC 60204-1

Adjacent standards for machinery plate content:

  • ISO 4871:2009 - declaration and verification of noise emission values (if machine produces noise);
  • IEC 61439-1:2020 - low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies (nameplate content for control panels);
  • IEC 60204-1:2016 - safety of machinery, electrical equipment of machines (marking of enclosures);
  • ISO 15223-1:2021 - medical devices, symbols to be used with information supplied by the manufacturer (if medical device);
  • IEC 60417 - graphical symbols for use on equipment (standard pictogram library).

We do not offer stainless steel or brass engraving in-house. For those substrates we can supply the artwork file for your local engraver.

Printing and marking

Three primary techniques:

  1. UV-cured direct printing - full colour, weather-resistant, 5-year outdoor / 10-year indoor lifetime. Best for logos, coloured backgrounds, photo-quality graphics.
  2. Laser engraving - permanent, tamper-resistant, ideal for serial numbers, CE marks, memorial texts, budget-critical use where colour is not needed.
  3. Combination - UV printed colour graphic + laser-engraved serial number - common on machine identification plates for asset traceability.

Frequently asked questions

Can you produce CE marking plates that meet Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC requirements?

Yes. We produce the plate to your specification with correct CE mark proportions (Regulation 765/2008) and mandatory content (manufacturer name and address, machinery designation, serial number, year of construction). CE certification of the machinery itself is the manufacturer's responsibility - we produce the plate to the artwork you approve.

Are your nameplates suitable for medical devices?

For medical device labels regulated by Regulation (EU) 2017/745 (MDR), we can produce panels using ISO 15223-1 symbols and printed UDI barcodes, but final regulatory compliance is your responsibility. We do not act as a notified body. For sterile packaging labels or IFU labels contact a specialised medical device labelling supplier.

Do you offer replacement / interchangeable name plates for office door frames?

Yes. Two systems: (a) slide-in acrylic holder mounted on the door with an inner printed insert you can swap (perfect for co-working spaces); (b) magnetic backing on a metal base plate for easy replacement. Both are shown on the door name plate SKU pages.

Can you laser-engrave a serial number sequence?

Yes. Provide us the starting serial number and quantity - we generate the sequence and engrave each plate with its unique number. Common formats: numeric (0001 to 0250), alphanumeric (KS-2026-0001), or with a leading batch prefix.

Do you print QR codes and barcodes on nameplates?

Yes. QR codes (up to Version 40 with error correction level H) and 1D barcodes (Code 128, EAN-13, Code 39) print at readable resolution on all our substrates. Common use cases: asset tags, machine identification pointing to maintenance records, product information links.
