Materials We Use

Material choice depends on the installation environment (indoor, outdoor, high-traffic, sanitary), the sign function (identification, safety, decorative), the mounting method (adhesive, mechanical) and the required service life (5, 10, 20+ years). Our production covers four base materials - and specifically excludes stainless steel and brass, which are outside our current production scope.

Material Thickness Application Service life
PVC (rigid) 3 mm Indoor signs - offices, shops, warehouses, cafes. UV-printed graphics on white or coloured base. Mounts with 3M double-sided tape, no drilling required. 10+ years indoor
Acrylic (PMMA) 3-5 mm Premium indoor signs, tactile Braille plates (per DIN 32976), reception and showroom signage. Transparent, satin or matte finish. Excellent print adhesion. 15+ years indoor
Aluminum composite (Alucobond, Dibond) 3-4 mm Outdoor installation, transport shelters, industrial fences, chain-link fences, profiled sheet metal. UV-stable, moisture-resistant, does not warp in sun. 15-20 years outdoor
Polystyrene (HIPS) 1-3 mm Lightweight alternative for large-format indoor signs where PVC weight becomes a factor. Foam-core sandwich variants available. 5-10 years indoor

Printing Techniques - UV, Solvent, Cut Vinyl

  • UV printing - the workhorse for indoor signage. Direct-to-substrate LED-UV printing produces vivid, wear-resistant colour images on PVC, acrylic, aluminum composite and polystyrene. WCAG 2.1 compliant contrast (minimum 4.5:1) achievable on any coloured base. Print resolution up to 1440 dpi.
  • Solvent printing - for outdoor signage where UV inks alone are not sufficient. Eco-solvent inks penetrate the surface and give better weathering resistance. Standard choice for aluminum composite outdoor signs, transport shelter signage and long-service industrial identification.
  • Cut vinyl (film application) - contour-cut adhesive vinyl in single colours applied to base material. Standard for simple text signs, prohibition pictograms in single colours, corporate identity applications. Vinyl life 5-8 years outdoor, 10+ years indoor.
  • Laser engraving - for tactile signs and premium acrylic identification plates. Engraved character depth 0.4-0.8 mm. Combined with UV-printed colour layer for high-contrast tactile signs meeting DIN 32976.

Sign Types We Manufacture

  • Informational signs - identification, wayfinding, hours of operation, service information, welcome signs.
  • Prohibition signs - ISO 7010 P-series pictograms (no smoking, no thoroughfare, no unauthorized access), custom text prohibitions (no sales to persons under 18, video surveillance in progress, authorized personnel only).
  • Mandatory action signs - ISO 7010 M-series pictograms (wear hard hat, wear ear protection, wear safety goggles, wear safety footwear, wash your hands).
  • Warning signs - ISO 7010 W-series pictograms (warning of flammable material, warning of laser radiation, warning of electric shock, warning of slippery surface).

The same production process applies to EU B2B customers - the standards references change from Ukrainian ДБН to EN 17210 / ISO 21542, the language layer changes to English plus target EU language, the mounting recommendations follow EN 17210 measurements.

EU Standards and Regulations

Custom nameplate manufacturing for EU B2B customers references two sets of standards - the accessibility framework and the workplace/safety framework. Our production covers both.

Accessibility Framework

Standard What it covers
EN 17210:2021 Accessibility and usability of the built environment - Functional requirements. Wayfinding, tactile identification, sign placement, contrast ratios, mounting height. The EU baseline document.
ISO 21542:2021 Accessibility of the built environment. Character height, colour contrast (minimum 70 LRV difference), tactile identification, mounting position 1400-1600 mm from finished floor.
DIN 32976 Tactile writing on signs - dimensions and geometry. Braille dot base diameter 1.5 mm, dot height 0.6-0.9 mm, dot spacing 2.5 mm within cell, 6.0 mm between cells.
ISO 17049 Braille characters - general requirements. Six-dot cell configuration, character identification requirements.

Workplace and Safety Framework

Standard / Directive What it covers
Directive 92/58/EEC Minimum requirements for the provision of safety and health signs at work. Transposed into national workplace safety regulations across all EU member states. Establishes mandatory sign categories, colour codes, geometric shapes.
ISO 7010 Graphical symbols - Safety colours and safety signs. The reference catalogue of pictograms (P-series prohibition, M-series mandatory, W-series warning, E-series safe condition, F-series fire safety). We produce the full catalogue.
ISO 3864 (parts 1-4) Safety colours and safety signs. Colour codes (red = prohibition, yellow = warning, green = safe condition, blue = mandatory), geometric shapes (circle = prohibition/mandatory, triangle = warning, square = information).
ISO 15223-1 Medical devices - Symbols to be used with medical device labels, labelling and information to be supplied. Reference for healthcare facility signage where medical device identification is required.
IEC 60417 Graphical symbols for use on equipment. Reference for equipment-mounted safety and identification pictograms.
Regulation (EU) 305/2011 (CPR) Construction Products Regulation. Applies to signs marketed as construction products (integrated building signage, permanent fixed installations). CE marking requirements where applicable.

National equivalents in EU member states - DIN (Germany), NF (France), UNI (Italy), PN (Poland), SFS (Finland), OENORM (Austria) - transpose these EN and ISO documents with local mounting-height ranges, language requirements and specific national annexes. Our production covers the EN / ISO baseline; on request we adapt the visual layer to a specific national annex.

Lead Times and Mounting Methods

  • Small batch (1-10 units) - 1-3 working days manufacturing after design approval. For urgent orders (inspection deadline, project handover date) we consider priority slots.
  • Standard batch (10-50 units) - 3-7 working days.
  • Serial batch (50-500 units) - from 7 working days depending on materials and complexity. Contract with fixed timeline and price protection.
  • Large tender (500+ units) - lead time fixed by contract. Public tender orders include material data sheets, compliance declarations and staged delivery schedule.

Mounting methods depend on the wall surface and the required removability:

  • 3M double-sided tape (VHB series) - the standard for indoor signs on gypsum board, painted plaster, tile, glass. No drilling required. Removable with residue-free peel-off after 6-12 months. Bond strength suitable for signs up to 500 g / 300 x 300 mm.
  • Countersunk screws with wall plugs - for permanent installation on concrete, brick, masonry. Standard for outdoor identification and large-format signs. Screw heads flush with the sign face, painted to match.
  • Chemical anchors - for high-load installations, aluminum composite signs on concrete facades, industrial identification signs subject to vibration.
  • Decorative bolts (chrome, brass, anodised aluminum) - visible-mount option for reception signage, showroom identification, architectural signage where the mounting bolts are part of the visual design.
  • Magnetic strip - for signs on ferromagnetic surfaces (industrial cabinets, metal doors, refrigeration units) where the sign needs to be relocated periodically.

What Clients Ask Most Often

Beyond the standard technical questions (materials, sizes, delivery times) most EU B2B clients focus on three practical areas - documentation for tender submissions, VAT handling for cross-border invoicing and lead time guarantees for construction schedules.

For tender documentation we provide material data sheets, compliance declarations (referencing the applicable EN or ISO standard), production timeline and staged delivery schedule. For VAT we apply intra-community reverse charge (Directive 2006/112/EC Article 138) with a valid buyer VAT number - the invoice shows zero VAT and references the reverse charge mechanism. For lead time guarantees we fix the delivery date in the contract with penalty clauses on request.
