Kyiv Stend manufactures Braille tactile signs for accessible public buildings across the European Union. We produce compliant with EN 17210:2021, ISO 21542:2021, DIN 32976 and ISO 17049 - the reference standards for door identification, wayfinding, room numbering, floor identification, lift controls and safety signage in schools, hospitals, government buildings, transport hubs and commercial premises. Materials and Construction
- Acrylic (PMMA) 3 mm base - the standard for indoor tactile signs. Excellent print adhesion for high-contrast visual layer (WCAG 2.1 minimum contrast ratio 4.5:1). Available in matte and satin finish.
- Acrylic 5 mm base - for high-traffic areas (hospitals, schools, transport hubs) where sign durability matters. Adds mechanical rigidity for larger formats (over 300 mm).
- Aluminum composite (Alucobond) - for outdoor installation, transport shelters, industrial facilities where UV and moisture resistance are critical.
- UV printing for the visual layer (large-format graphics, pictograms per ISO 7010, colour text). Solvent printing available for outdoor formats.
- Braille elements - hemispherical acrylic dots bonded to the base per DIN 32976 (dot base diameter 1.5 mm, dot height 0.6-0.9 mm). Not embossed, not printed. This method survives cleaning cycles, direct contact and outdoor weathering.
Rounded Corners - a Small Detail That Matters
All tactile signs are supplied with rounded corners (radius 3-5 mm depending on size). Sharp corners on a wall-mounted sign at hand height are a snag hazard - and in a school corridor, a hospital ward or an assisted-living facility this becomes a real injury risk. EN 17210 recommends rounded edges on all wall-mounted elements within reach. Our default radius is 5 mm; on request we produce 3 mm or 8 mm.

- Provide the intended language(s) for Braille text - we produce in English, German, French, Italian, Polish, Ukrainian and Russian. For other EU languages send the Braille transcription with the order.
- Standard sizes we hold as templates: 100x100 mm (room number), 150x150 mm (door pictogram), 200x100 mm (room name), 250x250 mm (lift floor identification). Custom dimensions - no problem, we produce from a single unit.
- For public tender specifications send the project reference and standard framework (EN 17210, national annex, additional requirements). We return a technical proposal within 2 working days.
- Colour contrast on the visual layer follows WCAG 2.1 (minimum 4.5:1) and ISO 21542 (minimum 70 LRV difference). Default combinations: dark text on white base, white text on dark base, high-contrast blue on light grey.
