ISO 7010 Safety Signs - Custom Order
We make ISO 7010:2019 safety signs from the list the customer sends us: codes, sizes, quantities. Nothing from stock. Every batch is cut, printed and verified in our Kyiv workshop and then shipped across the EU with a conformity certificate inside the parcel.
The responsible operator is Bulak Serhii, sole proprietor (ФОП. Fizychna osoba-pidpryiemets) under Ukrainian law. We have been producing safety signage since 2007 on our own UV flatbed and CNC laser line, no subcontracting, no middlemen.
A quick note before the detail: pricing is per project. We do not publish per-unit tariffs because the quote depends on how the codes split by material and size. Send the list, we come back with a firm number in a working day or two.
What ISO 7010 actually is
The standard ISO 7010:2019 «Graphical symbols - Safety colours and safety signs - Registered safety signs» is the international catalogue of safety pictograms. One symbol, one code. The same «no smoking» looks identical whether the hotel is in Lisbon or in Warsaw. ISO 3864-1:2011 sits next to it and sets the geometry rules. Colours, shapes, proportions, contrast.
Across the EU, the binding instrument is Council Directive 92/58/EEC of 24 June 1992 on minimum requirements for safety and health signs at work. Every member state has transposed it: in Germany the technical rule is ASR A1.3 Technische Regeln für Arbeitsstätten, in France Articles R4224-20 to R4224-24 of the Code du travail, in Italy D.Lgs. 81/2008 Titolo V, in Spain Real Decreto 485/1997, in Poland Rozporządzenie Ministra Pracy z 26.09.1997, in the United Kingdom the Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996 as retained post-Brexit. The scope and the colours stay the same from Dublin to Athens.
ISO 7010 pictograms differ from the older national designs only visually. Cleaner strokes, stronger contrast on the hazard element. The duty itself has not changed since 1992.
Signs are needed where the employer, after the risk assessment under Framework Directive 89/391/EEC, finds a residual risk that technical and organisational measures cannot eliminate. In plain terms: if you cannot engineer the risk away, you label it.
The regulatory stack we design against
Our production file for every job is matched against the following documents. The references are quoted exactly. That way the safety officer or the project engineer can line them up against the project specification without guessing.
- Directive 89/391/EEC of 12 June 1989 on measures to encourage improvements in the safety and health of workers at work (Framework Directive). Consolidated text on EUR-Lex.
- Directive 92/58/EEC of 24 June 1992 on minimum requirements for safety and health signs at work. Consolidated text on EUR-Lex.
- ISO 7010:2019 «Graphical symbols - Safety colours and safety signs - Registered safety signs». Record on ISO.org.
- ISO 3864-1:2011 design principles for safety signs and safety markings.
- ISO 3864-4:2011 colorimetric and photometric properties of safety sign materials.
- DIN 67510. The German photoluminescent classification standard. Adopted de facto across the EU because national fire codes keep referring back to it.
- Regulation (EU) 2016/425 on personal protective equipment. Where M-family signs mark compulsory PPE zones.
- National fire regulations: Germany ArbStättV + ASR A2.3; France Code du travail + Code de la construction; Italy D.M. 10.03.1998; Spain Real Decreto 2267/2004 and Real Decreto 513/2017; UK Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Every one of them points to ISO 7010 pictograms for extinguishers, hose reels, alarm call points and evacuation routes.
Regional additions exist too. Hospitality rules in some French departments, hospital-specific decrees in Spain, workplace health codes at Länder level in Germany. Check with the project technical office if the facility is sector-specific.
The five families
Five colours, five shapes, five prefixes. The prefix tells you the family at a glance; the number tells you the exact pictogram.
Prohibition (P) red ring, diagonal bar
White ground, red circular border, red bar from upper right to lower left, black pictogram. These forbid a behaviour that creates risk.
- P001. General prohibition
- P002, no smoking
- P003, no open flame or ignition source
- P006, no access for pedestrians
- P022, no eating or drinking
- P024. Do not walk on surface
Mandatory (M) blue disc
Solid blue circle, white pictogram. Imposes a behaviour, almost always a PPE requirement.
M003 (ear protection) and M008 (safety footwear) are our two most-ordered codes. Every industrial facility starts there. M017 (respirator) comes up more often than it used to since the pandemic, in food processing and laboratory kit lists.
- M001. General mandatory action (needs supporting text)
- M003. Wear ear protection
- M004. Wear eye protection
- M008. Wear safety footwear
- M017. Wear a respirator
Warning (W) yellow triangle
Yellow triangle with black border and black pictogram. Flags a hazard. Electrical, chemical, mechanical, biological.
- W001. General warning
- W012. Electrical hazard
- W016. Toxic material
- W021. Flammable material
Safe condition (E) green rectangle
Green square or rectangle, white pictogram. Marks exits, first aid, assembly points. The E-family is where photoluminescent material matters most. These signs still have to be visible when the lights go out.
- E001. Emergency exit (left-arrow)
- E003. First aid
- E013. Emergency telephone
- E018. Emergency shower
Fire equipment (F) red rectangle
Red square or rectangle, white pictogram. Locates the firefighting means and the fire protection system elements.
- F001. Fire extinguisher
- F002. Fire hose reel
- F003. Fire ladder
- F004. Collection of firefighting equipment
Any code in the current ISO 7010:2019 edition is on our line, including the amendments the committee has pushed since 2019. If what you need is not in the standard, we make it as a custom sign and label it that way on the invoice.
Who orders these from us
A typical quote request is not «one sign». It is a package spread across several families. Here is what the mix usually looks like, by sector.
- Industrial facilities and warehouses. P (restricted access, open flame), W (forklifts, hot surfaces, suspended loads), M (helmet, footwear, eye and ear protection), F (extinguishers, hose reels).
- Hospitals and clinics. P (smoking, access to theatres and sterile areas), E (exits, first aid, emergency telephone), occasionally M for isolation wards.
- Hotels. Mostly E and F. Local tourism inspectors in Spain, Italy and Portugal are the sector that most consistently asks us for photoluminescent variants.
- Offices and corporate buildings. P002 (smoking), E, F, M003 in server rooms with cooling noise.
- Schools, colleges, universities. P, W, F throughout, plus lab-specific pictograms in chemistry and biology blocks.
- Sports centres and gyms. P in technical areas, M (footwear, protection), E, first aid.
- Underground car parks. Evacuation plans with E, F everywhere, P for combustibles. Almost always photoluminescent class B or C.
- Chemical and pharmaceutical labs. Full W set, M (specific PPE), E018 (shower) + E019 (eyewash), F.
- Rail, metro, airports. E and F throughout, plus bilingual supplementary text for international terminals.
- Public administrations. E and F to satisfy the national building fire regulation audit; sometimes P for restricted zones.
Do you fit any of these? Even if not. The ordering process is the same. The scope just changes.
How the order moves from email to doorstep
Nothing exotic. Email with a list, we quote, you confirm, we make it, we ship it, you sign for it. The detail below exists only because the first-order customers like to see the sequence before they commit.
- You fill in the quotation form or email sales@kyivstend.com.ua with the list.
- For each line: ISO 7010 code (P001, M003, W001, E001, F001 or whichever), size in mm, material, quantity. If the code is unclear. Describe the sign in plain English and we identify it.
- You can attach up to 5 files, 10 MB each. Excel, PDF, DWG, photo of the existing signage, floor plan.
- We send a firm quote within 1-2 working days. No cost, no commitment.
- If you accept, we invoice via SEPA (EUR) or SWIFT. For public-sector buyers we adapt the paperwork to the contracting authority format.
- Production: 3 to 7 working days from payment confirmation, scaled to volume and complexity.
- Shipping: 7 to 14 days with DHL, UPS, GLS or DPD, DAP or CPT by agreement.
- Delivery against signed proof. The parcel includes the ISO 7010 conformity certificate referencing your invoice and the codes delivered.
Rush track exists for construction deadlines. 2 to 3 working days of production plus express transport, with a surcharge. Flag the date in the first email so we can tell you whether the slot is open before quoting.
What you can specify
Every parameter below is customer-controlled. The notes column exists to pre-empt the questions we get most often during quote preparation.

Customers often ask whether we would make a sign that is not strictly ISO 7010. A corporate wayfinding sign, a bilingual information board. We will. Just note on the quote that it is custom, so you can file it correctly in the project documentation.
Materials. What we actually run
Five substrates. We do not quote on stainless steel, anodised aluminium or brass. Those need a deep-engraving line we do not operate.
- Rigid PVC 3 mm. The workhorse for interior. Flat, dimensionally stable, printable in full colour. Interior life well over ten years. Washable with water and neutral detergent.
- Acrylic 3 to 5 mm. Cast or extruded PMMA. Premium look. Transparency, gloss, double-layer options. Impact-resistant. Interior-only unless the project specifically commissions UV treatment on top.
- Dibond aluminium composite. Sandwich of two aluminium skins over a polyethylene core. Rigid, light, holds up to weather and UV. The default for exterior, car park signage and industrial halls that are not fully climate-controlled.
- Polystyrene. Cheap, light, interior-only. Fine for warehouses and auxiliary signage. Not for high-traffic corridors. It dents.
- Photoluminescent PVC per DIN 67510. Rigid PVC 3 mm with a photoluminescent coating. Charges in daylight, releases luminance when the lights fail. The required substrate for evacuation routes under most national fire codes and the one tourism inspectors in southern Europe check first.
Printing is direct UV, cured by lamp on the way out. No lamination layer, no delamination risk. For heavy cleaning environments. Food processing, pharmaceutical plants. We add a protective varnish on the Dibond variant.
How we make a sign
Seven stages, same for one unit or two hundred.
- Digital setup. The official ISO 7010 pictogram is pulled from the registry, colours verified against ISO 3864-1, printing file laid out.
- UV direct printing. UV-cured inks on the chosen substrate. Faster-fading inks and traditional solvent print are not on our line because they fail accelerated weather tests at the material supplier.
- CNC laser cutting. Perimeter cut to size. For circles (P, M) and triangles (W), geometry comes from ISO 3864-1. The laser does not approximate.
- Photoluminescent coating. Only when the order includes photoluminescent lines. Initial luminance measured with the bench luxmeter and recorded against the lot.
- Quality control. Visual check of every sign, luminance check on the photoluminescent lines, colour contrast against the ISO 3864-1 reference chart.
- Conformity certificate. Signed, dated, parcel-numbered. Lists the codes, materials, sizes and quantities.
- Packing. Each sign in protective film, grouped in rigid cardboard boxes with dividers. Sized for international courier handling.
Nothing in that list is proprietary. It is the standard flow of a UV-and-CNC workshop. What differs between shops is the discipline of applying it to the same spec every time. We have done enough reorders from the same hospital groups and hotel chains to know that consistency is the differentiator.
Warranty. The small print worth reading
Two parallel warranties cover the signs.
- B2C buyers. The legal warranty under Directive (EU) 2019/771, transposed by every member state. Two years as the EU minimum. Three years in Spain, Portugal and Sweden by extended national transposition.
- B2B buyers. The two-year commercial warranty under the applicable national commercial law of your member state and the Vienna Convention 1980 (CISG) on international sales where applicable.
The warranty covers:
- UV print adhesion to the substrate, no spontaneous peeling.
- UV resistance of the safety colours in interior environments, no fading of the regulated hues.
- Decay curve of the photoluminescent class declared in the quote.
- Dimensional stability of the material, no warping, no distortion.
It does not cover:
- Third-party paint, lacquer or lettering added to the sign after delivery.
- Impact damage, abrasion, scratches from handling or installation.
- Chemical attack from solvents, strong acids or strong bases not declared in the order profile.
- Prolonged direct sun exposure on substrates declared for interior. Polystyrene above all.
- Installation outside the conditions in the quote (humidity, temperature, substrate preparation).
Claim procedure is in the warranty page. Short version: email with photos within the warranty window, we assess, we repair or replace or refund.
Quotes and discounts
Every quote is calculated on your actual list. We do not publish per-unit tariffs. The number depends on code mix, material mix, size mix and quantity. What stays constant:
- Volume scaling. 50+ signs trigger a lower unit cost through amortised print setup and consolidated packing. 200+ signs trigger another step down.
- Digital setup is free. Layout of the official pictograms and the digital proof before production are included.
- Physical sample. One real sign to validate colour and material before you commit to the batch. The sample is chargeable; the amount is deducted from the final invoice if the order goes ahead.
- Public sector. We adapt invoicing to the format your contracting authority requires. Give us the template or the reference, we align.
- Recurring customers. Repeat hotel groups, retail chains, education groups get negotiated terms for scheduled refresh cycles.
How fast does it arrive in your country
Two moving parts: production in Kyiv, international transit by courier.
- Production. 3 to 7 working days depending on volume and complexity.
- International transit. 7 to 14 calendar days from Kyiv to your door via DHL, UPS, GLS or DPD.
- Total. About two to three weeks from payment confirmation to signed delivery.
Rush track: 2 to 3 working days of production, express courier on top. Flag the deadline in the first email. We confirm the slot before the quote goes out.
For projects with a hard inauguration date. A hotel opening, a factory inspection, a station handover. We plan the schedule backwards from your date and lock in a specific delivery window at no surcharge, provided we have two to three weeks of advance notice.
Frequently asked questions
Do you manufacture every ISO 7010 code or only the common ones?
Any code in the current ISO 7010:2019 edition, including amendments published after 2019. If the pictogram the customer needs is not in the standard, we produce it as a custom sign and mark it on the invoice. Outside the ISO 7010 scope.
Which signs must be photoluminescent?
National fire regulations across the EU (ArbStättV ASR A2.3 in Germany, Code du travail in France, D.M. 10.03.1998 in Italy, UNE 23033-1 in Spain) treat photoluminescent signage as the default for evacuation routes, emergency exits (family E) and firefighting equipment (family F) in buildings with public access. Hotels, hospitals, schools and underground car parks fit DIN 67510 class B or higher.
Do you supply an ISO 7010 conformity certificate?
Yes, with every order. Paper copy inside the parcel; PDF by email on request. For photoluminescent signs the certificate includes the declared DIN 67510 class and the initial luminance measurement from quality control.
Can I add text in my language under the pictogram?
Yes. Any EU official language. Common combinations: E001 Exit, F001 Extinguisher, M003 Mandatory ear protection, plus floor and zone references. Bilingual layouts for hotels and airports produced routinely. The text is complementary; the regulatory requirement under 92/58/EEC is fulfilled by the ISO 7010 pictogram itself.
I do not know the code. Can you identify it?
Describe the sign in plain English or send a photo of the existing signage or a floor plan. We identify the ISO 7010 code before preparing the quote, no extra charge.
Can you compress production for a construction deadline?
Rush production in 2-3 working days plus express courier transport, with an urgency surcharge. Depends on current workshop load. Flag the deadline in the first email so we can confirm the slot before the quote.
